Privacy Policy

This policy explains how data is handled by the Convert AVIF to JPG Chrome extension and its related image conversion tools and setup guide on convertfilekit.com.

Image processing

The extension and website convert images locally on your device. They read the AVIF or WebP files you select, display their filenames and dimensions, and create converted copies. Your original files remain unchanged. Image files are not uploaded to a conversion server.

Chrome extension

The extension does not contain analytics, advertising trackers or session-recording tools. It does not read your browsing history or the content of websites you visit.

Selected images, filenames, dimensions, conversion results and queue status are stored locally in the extension’s IndexedDB. Output format, quality and resizing preferences are saved locally using Chrome’s storage API.

Temporary images and results expire after one hour of inactivity. Cleanup takes place when the extension is next active, without interrupting ongoing conversions or downloads. Clear removes the queue and temporary files once active operations have stopped safely. Downloaded files remain on your device until you delete them. Uninstalling the extension removes its local storage.

The extension uses the following permissions:

• offscreen: to process images while the popup is closed.
• storage: to remember settings and feedback-prompt preferences.
• downloads: to save converted images and ZIP archives.

Image data is used only to provide the conversion features you request. It is not sold, used for advertising or transferred to us or other parties. The extension’s handling of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Website storage

The web converter stores its temporary image queue and results in your browser’s IndexedDB, with conversion preferences stored in localStorage. Website storage is separate from the extension’s storage; files are not automatically shared between them.

Each browser tab has its own queue. Reloading a tab can restore its queue if the browser has retained the data. Closing or reloading a tab may interrupt unfinished conversions.

Temporary files expire after one hour of inactivity and are removed during subsequent converter activity, with active operations protected. Clear removes the current queue safely. Browser storage may also be cleared through your browser settings. Files you have downloaded are not affected.

Website analytics

We use Yandex Metrica to understand how visitors use the website, including page views, navigation, conversion activity and download requests. Conversion events include the product and output format, but not image contents or filenames.

Metrica’s Webvisor feature records website interactions, such as mouse movements, clicks, scrolling and visible page content. Recording the contents of input fields is disabled. Visible page content may include filenames displayed in the conversion queue.

Yandex receives browser and connection information and may use analytics cookies. You can read more in the Yandex Privacy Policy.

These tools operate on website pages only. They do not record activity inside the Chrome extension. The setup guide opened after installation is a website page and uses the same website analytics settings.

Cookie settings

Website analytics is enabled by default. You can disable it through Cookie settings. This stops further analytics collection, including Webvisor, and removes accessible first-party Metrica cookies.

Your choice is stored locally and applies across the website. Cancel leaves your existing choice unchanged. Clearing browser storage resets this preference. Disabling analytics does not prevent image conversion.

Feedback and support

The extension keeps a local record of successful conversions and whether its feedback prompt has been dismissed. Before the third successful conversion, this record contains up to two temporary queue item IDs. It then retains eligibility and dismissal flags. These records contain no image contents or filenames and are not transmitted to us.

Feedback-prompt preferences remain after Clear or temporary-file expiry to avoid repeatedly showing the prompt. They are removed when the extension is uninstalled.

If you choose to leave feedback, the extension opens Google Forms or Chrome Web Store. Image files and filenames are not passed to these services. Any feedback you submit is handled by the service you use. The feedback form does not require your email address or image files.
